Grandpa’s Legacy

Loren and Nicole’s home was one that had been in their family for generations. This exceptional home was built by Loren’s grandfather. Loren and Nicole wanted to keep it in the family and restore this sentimental home bringing it up to date while still keeping some of the original charm that held so many fond memories for the family.

Their renovation project included a complete demo and remodel of the kitchen, dining area, living room, entryway, staircase, hall bath, master bedroom and bath, essentially, the entire upstairs.

To keep some of the original character, we decided to keep the stone entryway and the stone fireplace in their master bedroom. We also kept the tongue and groove wood ceilings with wood beams throughout. To update the fireplace in the master bedroom, we painted the stone a light gray and then white washed it a bit to add some depth and dimension. To brighten the house, we painted the wood ceilings and beams white. We cleaned up and restored the stone entryway and living room fireplace in their original charm adding a stunning wood tone, shiplap wall above the fireplace and a new custom built white mantle to keep the beautiful, Northwest look and feel.

A modern farmhouse look and style is what Loren and Nicole had envisioned for their home. To help bring their modern farmhouse to life, new crisp, white kitchen cabinets with black knobs and pulls, bright white quartz countertops and contrasting dark, rich wood flooring were installed.  Painting the wood ceilings and rustic beams white and adding a lot of beautiful light fixtures was really important to them since the property was vast and filled with shady trees. Their choices of track lighting and some classy “edison bulb” lighting were perfectly in tune with the design of the space. Lastly, a gorgeous barn door leading into their master bath was added to complete their desired modern farmhouse look.

The hall bath and master bath were also completely remodeled. In the hall bath, we went with a white subway tile in the shower for a clean, fresh and modern feel. The master shower has three different styles and shapes of gray tile, two shower heads and sleek, beautiful, seamless glass shower doors. There is a skylight overhead and to top off the spa feel of the master bath, a timeless white marble flooring was added. They have said this shower is one of their favorite finished places in the house.

Their home is now ready for more family gatherings, holiday dinners and birthday parties for future generations to come!

Client Testimony:

“We recently used Gordon T. Jacob for a remodel of our entire upstairs, along with structural, electrical, demolition, plumbing, HVAC and drywall downstairs in our home. After consulting with several contractors I received a recommendation for Chris and his team. During our consult, Chris demonstrated true excitement four our project that no other contractor showed. They all could get the job done as requested but Chris was enthusiastic throughout the process. He contributed some fantastic ideas on top of completing our vision. I had complete trust in each of his workers while they were unsupervised in our home as well. We must have made 25 good sized changes mid-project and the crew took it in stride. We are very happy overall and are looking forward to using Gordon T. Jacob in the future!”
