Graham’s Hidden Gem

Jeff and Kate had been looking for a view estate for many years when they came across this beauty in Graham. This hidden 25 acre gem provides them the perfect mix of privacy with incredible views of Mt. Rainier.

The home was built with lumber all from the parcel in the 1970’s. The highlights of their home were tall cathedral Tongue & Groove (T&G) ceilings in the main living and dining room with beautiful 8×8 posts and beams. In addition, the house was built as a daylight basement with windows on both floors across the back of the home to take advantage of the stunning views of Mt. Rainier. While the home has nearly 2500 square feet on each floor, the layout was not exactly what they wanted. So before the clients moved in, they wanted to change the floor plan and update the home with modern finishes while still keeping some of the original flare.

We completely changed the North Wing of house and changed  the bedrooms and bathrooms. In the master bedroom, we lifted the 8 ft ceilings to Cathedral with T&G pine to mirror the main living and dining room. In addition, we added a completely new master bathroom with gorgeous glass shower and bench and sunken jet tub with picture window perfectly positioned for the view of the mountain.

In the kitchen, the clients wanted to keep the home feeling warm, so they went with a beautiful brown custom cabinet pack with granite counters, tile backsplash and Jenn-Air appliance package. We removed a wall that opened the kitchen to the main living area. The entire main part of house was updated with stunning hardwood floors which created an open continuous feel throughout.

In addition, we reorganized where the pantry and mud rooms were to create a more functional space for both.

The clients were excited to keep the entry stone and the stone fireplace which matched well with the ceiling and beams. In the end, they plan to decorate home to create a stunning mid century modern look.

In addition, to the main house the clients want to build 3-5 guest houses on the property for family when they come to visit. Each guest house will have it’s own design both exterior and interior. To start, we built the shell of the first guest house and it turned out incredible! Simple design with tall ceiling again with T&G pine, large 4X8 windows across the back looking into a beautiful forest and metal roof.

We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with our clients, Jeff and Kate to create the home they had hoped for.
