Brent + Megan

Megan and Brent

Megan and Brent have lived in their home for several years and wanted to buy a new house or update their home to feel new. The Puyallup edition of HGTV’s Love It or List It. They decided to go the route of renovation since the current inventory of new construction homes at affordable prices was so limited.

The primary focus of the project was to address the feel when you walk in the front door, address the old hardwoods, update the kitchen to something modern that you would see in a new construction home and then update the downstairs main bath and also the laundry room.

To address the initial feel we removed the white picket rail system and added an iron picket look. In addition, we went from stained to white painted rail. We also changed the original tile around the living room fireplace with a marble tile that is more modern and bright.

We decided to keep the original hardwoods since they were in good shape but sanded out all the scratches and stained it a beautiful dark brown color that resembles the look of the newer hardwoods on the market.

The original kitchen had stained cabinets that did not go to the ceiling and had counters and backsplash tile that was dark. Megan and Brent wanted white and bright and they wanted to improve the look and feel and usability. We ended up going with a custom white shaker cabinet double stacked to the ceiling and added glass with lights in top cabinets, white marble like quartz counters and we updated appliances, added a pot filler above stovetop and new plumbing fixtures.

In the main bathroom downstairs, we changed the stained vanity with tile countertop to white vanity with quartz and updated the plumbing fixture and tile floor. In the laundry room, we added new white cabinets with extended tile counter to match the look and feel of the house.

In the end, our clients were extremely happy they were able to stay in their current home that is now renovated!

Client Testimony

“To Chris, Mitzi and the entire Gordon T. Jacob team:

There are no words to describe how thankful and happy we are with our remodel. From the beginning, Chris has communicated thoroughly, responded timely and has taken calls and returned texts at all hours. We received a few quotes before starting the project, but felt we could trust Chris and his team the most. Going through a home renovation can be stressful, but we were put at ease throughout and presented solutions to potential problems, advice, and recommendations. We felt like family. We never had to worry and the crew was always professional, respectful and very neat. We felt like our home was in good hands throughout the entire process. We will definitely be back to remodel our upstairs bathrooms as soon as we are able to, and we will absolutely tell any friends looking to remodel about Gordon T. Jacob. Top notch!

Sincerely, Brent and Megan Wendtland”
