Light and Bright

In University Place, WA our clients decided to purchase their mom’s residence and wanted to give it some TLC and make it more of a reflection of their own style preferences.

When we first walked the home, we immediately understood that the kitchen layout was not very functional with an island that was diagonal in the room and causing the space to feel cramped. The refrigerator was also in a pinch point between the walkway to the dining room. 

Besides the layout, the flooring, millwork and paint all needed updating. The fireplace was another priority to remodel. 

To remedy the layout, we designed an island positioned square to the family room with storage on both sides and a beautiful farmhouse sink and dishwasher. We found a way to take an existing pantry closet and create a refrigerator space and added pantry cabinetry in another area. Between the two pantry style cabinets, we created custom floating shelves hung over vertical shiplap to offer a coffee bar feel. All the original cabinets were replaced with lovely, shaker style, white finish cabinets.

The fireplace was beautifully designed by our team on the spot. We had a general idea of what they wanted and had a unique wall structure to work around without causing too much extra cost in the budget. We enclosed that wall rather than demolishing it. It now looks like an original design and as if the bumped out wall was never there. This both saved time and cost.

The exceptional flooring being continuous throughout the downstairs, made the space look so much larger. Millwork was updated as well as doors and paint. The remodel really turned out gorgeous. And a home that had been in the family for years got to be renewed to continue the family legacy. All the gatherings, gardening, and growing…….memories and more.
