Tacoma Garage Conversion: From Underused Space to a Cozy DADU
We recently wrapped up a project in Tacoma that perfectly highlights how creative construction can transform overlooked spaces into something truly valuable. Our client owned a duplex with a detached garage that wasn’t doing much for the property. Instead of letting it sit largely unused, he had a vision: turn it into a Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (DADU) that could generate passive income and add long-term value to his investment.
Making the Most of What’s Already There
One of the best parts of this project was being able to preserve the original structure while completely reimagining the space. We framed in the old garage door, maintained the existing foundation, roof, and framing, and then transformed the inside into a fully functional, inviting home.
This approach not only helped reduce construction waste, but also kept costs more efficient for our client—something that’s always top of mind with DADU construction.
