Is Your Home Ready for These 2025 Design Trends?

Today we’re excited to spotlight our new design assistant, Lindsay! She has been a joy to have on our team and has already added so much value and insight to our current clients and to us as well! Here she is to share a few words about 2025’s top trends:

1. Color, Textures, & Patterns
More and more clients are wanting to embrace color in their home, which can be shown in many aspects throughout your spaces. Vibrant accent walls, bold tiles, decorative hardware, and bold statement pieces, to name a few. Textures add variety and interest to any space. Wallpaper is a tried and true, but can also be seen through embracing natural hardwoods and furniture selections, or refurnishing existing furniture.

2. Ergonomics, Wellness, & Aging in Place

Primary bathrooms are no longer what they used to be. More clients are seeking a “spa-like” experience in the comfort of their own home. Designing a large bathroom featuring a freestanding tub enclosed in a wet room is one example of how this is shown. Fixtures like hand showers, rain showers, shower benches, and heated floors are just some of the things that can elevate the space.

As “Aging in Place” becomes a more widely understood and discussed concept, more clients are looking ahead and planning for it. Aging in place means choosing to grow older in the comfort of your own home, rather than relocating to an assisted living facility. Independence is something we all value, and thoughtful remodeling can help preserve it. Making strategic updates now—like wider doorways, zero-threshold showers, or improved lighting—can ensure your home remains safe, functional, and comfortable for years to come.

3. Outdoor Living Spaces

Outdoor spaces are becoming more valuable and sought after. Large retractable glass doors help break the barrier between the outside and inside. People are customizing their outdoor spaces for what works for them! Outdoor kitchens, covered patios, stamped concrete, weatherproof furniture, heating, and entertainment are just some examples that can change the outdoor living experience.

4. Sustainability & Biophilic Design

Tying into outdoor living, biophilic design practices can make a significant difference in the way that you live in your home. “Biophilic design elements enhance air quality, airflow, circadian rhythm, heart rate, and ordinary human health. When you incorporate biophilic designs using indoor plants and natural patterns, it enhances the multi-sensory experience and stimulates visual connection (foyr.com).” Sustainable materials are directly related to biophilic design and our environment. More people are becoming aware of chemicals and toxins like VOCs that are harmful to our health and our environment. Choosing materials that are naturally more sustainable, like cork or bamboo, can be easier than trying to find an alternative for something that is naturally not sustainable, like paint. Look for certifications like the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or others, and research the materials and options for yourself.

5. Designing Around What You Like

Trends may come and go, but embracing your own taste is key, as nothing you love will ever go out of style. Remember, you are the one who will be living in your home after the remodel, and there’s nothing worse than discovering that you don’t truly love a feature once it’s too late. Creating Pinterest boards can be a great way to draw inspiration, but it’s also important to recognize that your style is unique to you. Focus on what resonates with your personality rather than trying to fit into a trend or replicate someone else’s preferences. Choose materials and design elements that reflect who you are, and let your space truly reflect your individuality.
